MilitaryPrisoner of War (POW) shot down on 6 Mar 1944 in 'Evanton Babe' B-17G #42-31919. Hit by flak and later by fighters, engine #4 was burning fiercely. In view of the danger of explosion of the gas tanks the Pilot ordered the crew to bail out. 9 airmen jumped when the engine fell off. The pilot then decided to continue his flight to England. Sergeant. King became a Prisoner of War (POW). This was Mission #13
