This a/c was a H2X equipped lead ship in the 784th BS. She sat on Revetment #2 which must have been an easy place to take crews to have their picture taken. There are several crews that had their photo taken with "Jennie", some, like the Scales Crew, weren't in the 784th BS.

Murrieta, CA, USA 16 December 2007 MELVIN L. ENGLE Age 87, a long time resident of Southern California, he spent the last 22 years in Murrieta. Melvin was born May 21, 1920 in Rapid City, SD. He was an Aeronautical Engineer at Douglas Aircraft Company, retiring after 30 years of service. He served as a 1st Lt. in the Air Corps from 1944-1945 and Captain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Melvin attended Cal Poly S.L.O.; received his B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering. He was a hard helmet abalone diver; butler at Hearst Castle for William Randolph Hearts. piloted B-24 bombers, flying out of England and few 35 missions over Europe between 1944 and 1945, last 20 years spent as a gentleman rancher. Melvin is survived by his wife, Jayma A. Engle; daughter, Jayma L. Cherney; son, Michael E. Engle; grandchildren; Jason W. Cherney, Jayma B.
