Glindow, Werder (Havel), Germany | 6 March 1944 | Marvin volunteered for military service in World War II right after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served in the 8th U.S. Army Air Forces, 754th Bomber Squadron, 458th Bomber Group, Heavy, Crew #46. He was the Tail Gunner on a B-24 airplane and was killed on his first combat flight during the first air battle over Berlin. This was the first air mission over Berlin during WWII. He won a Purple Heart, but his family never received the medal. He is buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery in Neupre, Belgium; Plot B, Row 38, Grave 46. |
