Magnus McHargue served as a flight engineer/top turret gunner with the 458th Bomb Group. On 2 April 1944, on leave in Norwich, he was killed when he fell down a flight of stairs, breaking his neck. He was buried at the American military cemetery in Cambridge on 6 April 1944.
