Lloyd Dale Babin
MilitaryBailed out on 28 October 1944 during a mission to Munster. When the ball turret of B-17 43-37595 caught fire after the left wing was hit by flak.
The pilot reported that someone called for the fire extinguisher to put out the fire in the Ball Turret but radio communication and oxygen cut out shortly after. The pilot surmised this prompted Babin to bail out, feeling there was no point in staying with the aircraft.
Babin was taken Prisoner of War at Stalag Luft 4 until 7 February 1945.

This entry previously incorrectly determined Babin to have been KIA 28/10/1944, the matching Service numbers in MACR and POW record prove this not to be the case.
