After leaving formation due to an engine fire on secondary missions to bomb airfields near Hanover, Germany in B-17 42-30634 'Liberty Belle' on 21-Feb-44, A/C was attacked by nine Fw190's. Four crewman jumped before the A/C exploded and crashed in the North Sea off Egmond, Holland. Prisoner of War (POW).
