Leland Rath was assigned to the 93rd Bomb Group. He served in Europe and North Africa and was awarded the Air Medal. He served also in Korea and was Commander of the 4th Weather Squadron (AFRC) at Shaw AFB, South Carolina (1951-52) and of the 1st Operational Weather Squadron at Scott AFB, Illinois (1953). He ended his USAF career as a Lt Colonel.
