Mckeesport PA | 14 June 1917 | His father, Julius Melegh was born in Hungary and emigrated to the United States on 5 September 1911. He was the reverend of Morgantown, West Virginia. Julius Melegh Jr. was born in McKeesport and attended High School there. He enlisted in the air corps and completed his basic training at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. He was engaged to Ethyl Geraldine Ravas in 1943. They married in Denton, Texas on January 29, 1944. He was commissioned June 10, 1944, following his graduation from the San Marcos Navigation school in Texas. From there he had been assigned in Lincoln, Nebraka for operational training. |

14 October 1944 | A/C 4338066 was hit in midair by A/C 4338108, probably caused by #108 being caught in prop wash. A/C #066 was chewed up completely, props cutting through radio room. Both A/C went down, #066 broken into two pieces. |
