Joyce Riddlehoover was involved in a mid-air collision with a B-17 from the 94th BG over the German coast, NW of Hamburg, after a mission to Berlin was recalled on 3 March 1944 in B-17G #42-31112 'Paper Doll'. He was Killed in Action (KIA).
The aircraft had made a turn to the right with the wing formation and collided with a B-17 #42-38075 of the 94th Bomb Group at 5330N-0900E over the German coast NW of Hamburg which made a turn to the left.
