MilitaryWhile with the 100th BG (B-17 #4230604 'Badger Beauty IV') crash landed on 22nd mission on 4 October 1943. Made contact with French underground who hid and transported him. While in camp on Swiss border made raids with French underground on German targets. Later crossed Pyrenees during January 1944 and arrived in Gibraltar on 4 February 1944. Then returned to duty with the 5th AF and flew 16 combat missions in the Pacific Theater.
