Joseph F Palmer was born on February 24, 1920. He had enlisted in the Army Air Forces. Served during World War II. He had the rank of First Lieutenant. Occupation or specialty was Pilot. For Joe Palmer and his crew it was their 11th mission. The target was Hamburg, but due to bad sight over the target they could not drop their bombs. Instead they attacked targets of opportunity on the way back.
Joe's plane was heavily damaged by German AA-fire and it crashed near Borgsweer. 7 men of a crew from 11 died, the other 4 survived but were taken prisoner. Joe Palmer was among those killed. He was 23 years old.
