MilitaryShot down 17 April 1943 in B-17 42-5172 'Thunderbird'. Target was Bremen, but A/C was attacked by fighters before target and caught fire. Bailed out from back section to become Prisoner of War (POW) at Stalag 17B. Note: Original entry spelled name as 'Johnny' but NARA and Losses spell it with 'ie' NARA also lists his home state as Texas in Prisoner of War (POW) records.
