Amesbury, MA, USA | 13 April 2015 | John Calvin Fuller, of Amesbury, age 90, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, on April 13, 2015. The youngest of five children to the late Walter and Adonna Fuller, John was a lifelong resident of Amesbury. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Air Corps and was a part of 23 missions over Germany as a navigator in World War II. After serving his country, he attended the University of Michigan, where he met his wife Barbara in 1946 and married in 1947. In 1948, he returned to Amesbury to take over Fuller’s Menswear, where he remained until retiring in 2010. John improved Amesbury in many ways. He helped draft the first town zoning laws in the 1950s. From 1967 to 1997, John first served as a corporator and later board member, and finally president of The Provident Bank. He also enjoyed his duties as chairman of the downtown Christmas lighting committee for 25 years. In his spare time, John loved fishing and playing golf, enjoying his many golden retrievers, giving the best bearhugs, traveling the world, and hosting parties around the pool for his extended family and many friends. John is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 68 years, Barbara Fuller, and their four children: son, Ron Fuller and wife, Ruth Anne; and daughters, Mary McGee and husband, Allen; Susan Buppert and Patricia Fuller. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, Colin McGee and wife, Kara; Meghan McGee Desfosses and husband, Alfie; Todd Fuller; Tori Fuller; Teale Howe and husband Patrick; Kristen Buppert; Matt Buppert; Joe Buppert; Ryan McAskill and Sean McAskill; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Howe, Grady Howe, Dylan Desfosses and Lily Elvera Desfosses, along with several generations of nieces and nephews. |
