Joan was a schoolgirl who witnessed the crash of B-24 Liberator 41-29411 on 25 October 1944. She was retuning to school after lunch and saw the aircraft attempt to land at RAF Woodvale before crashing. She later helped to family of one of the crew to locate the crash site years later. 

Joan was interviewed by Sefton Libraries about the crash in 2022.
