According to top turret gunner (eye witness), he was still at the controls before A/C exploded, having called for crew to bail out. Killed in Action (KIA) MACR 9412

* Spurious information - MACR does not support the following statement, eye witness has him in A/C at time of explosion -
"According to US war crime trial papers, he was shot to death by a German police sergeant shortly after parachuting to earth. The perpetrator was hanged at Landsberg/Lech on 3 April 1947."
