James T Flynn

Military ROLL OF HONOUR

My Uncle James was drafted into service in Nov., 1942. This was almost 3 years after my father had entered service with the Navy and left for duty in the Panama Canal Zone in 1939. Needless to say my grandparents were a bit anxious now with 2 of 3 sons involved in the war. James trained at Seymour Johnson Field in North Carolina, graduating in May, 1943, then went to Detroit for more training before deploying with the 706th Bomb Squadron, 446th Bombardment Group to England to fly missions over occupied Europe and Germany. He and his entire crew were killed just prior to the war's end in April, 1945.
