Shot down near Strausbourg on 6 Feb 45 in B-17 'Lady Satan' #4297175 after bombing oil refinery near Frankfurt. 2 engines on fire, other 2 out; crew bailed out except for pilot and co-pilot (2nd Lt. Harold McComb, whose left leg was severed by flak). Crash landed and apprehended. Interrogated as Prisoner of War (POW) at Bad Kreuznach, Germany. Liberated by General Patton's 3rd Army. .
