James F Callahan
MilitaryJames Callahan served with the 4th Fighter Group from May 1944 - September 1944. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant on 10 June 1944. Callahan took part in in Operation FRANTIC II, the Russia Shuttle mission, but crash landed on the beach at Sampieri, Sicily. He had ran out of fuel due to overshooting the airfield at Lucera, Italy. He was brought back by an ATC transport.
