Jacob Kaplan
MilitaryEntered service at Camp Upton, NY July 1942. Joined 392nd BG November 1943. Rank at end of WW II was 2nd Lt. Shot down by fighters and crashed near Bad Hersfeld, GR on a mission to Gotha, GR on 24 Feb 1944 in B-24H 42-7496 'The Jinx'. Prisoner of War (POW) in Barth, Stalag I, until 13 May 1945.
After the war, Kaplan established and ran very successful delis in New York City.
