Crashed in Blick, Germany, near the village Süderbrarup in Schleswig-Holstein on 6/18/44 in B-24 “Rhapsody in Junk.” POW at Stalag Luft III and Stalag VII-A.
Henry Northrop's father was a minister in Long Island, and Henry grew up with his four brothers, singing with them in the local boys choir. Before joining the service in 1942, Henry worked at W. T. Grant Company in New York and at Rippey's Diner in Batavia, New York. He earned his pilot's wings after training in Mississippi and Arkansas from February 1943 to October of that same year. His four brothers all served in the military in Europe during WWII. Henry also served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
