Henry Detweiler Jr
MilitaryPrisoner of War (POW) Crashed at Heringen on 2/9/45 in B-17G 43-38988 'Paddlefoot'. In prison for three months, the diet consisted of daily rations of two slices of bread and thin watery soup. His first day in prison was on his birthday and in his 4x5' cell he ate his birthday dinner of two pieces of bread and tea. As a prisoner, he lost over 35 pounds in 3 months. April 29 he was liberated from the Mooseburg camp when the victorious Allied troops of the Third Army and led by General Patton stormed the prison.
