POW on 11/21/44 when crashed near Osnabruck in B-17 'Casa De Umbriago' 42-97574. Prisoner of War (POW) from 21 November 1944- 05 May 1945. Captured at Quakenbruck, GR and spent night in city jail. Train to Frankfurt for interrogation; traing to Berling and Stalag Luft IV; departed Luft IV in Mar 1945 road march to southwest GR. Marched 650 km. Liberated 04 May 1945 by British 1st Royal Dragons. Spent 05 May 1945 in Brussels, BE; then to Camp Luck Strike, FR; then Engalnd and back to states by Navy LSI.
