He flew on Clyde Cosper crew. Reported to group on 11 Sept 1943.

On 14 October 1943-Black Thursday-Schweinfurt, he flew with William Kirk and was the only 367th plane to bomb the target and return to base. Aircraft was B-17 named 'Rose of York'. He completed 31 missions.



Roberts afterwards belonged to the Second Schweinfurt Memorial Association who held their 26th Reunion in that city in October 2001. The SSMA was founded in 1973, holding reunions every other year.
