Frederic Miller had graduated initially from the Air Corps Advanced Flying School at Randolph Field in October 1933. By November 1941 he was A-3 at the field and from January 1943 - January 1944 director of ground training for the AF Central Instructor School. He was then assigned to the 2nd Combat Bomb Wing as Division Air Inspector before becoming Commanding Officer of the 491st 26 June- 20 October 1944. After the war Colonel Miller held a number of staff jobs both at home and abroad retiring in 1966 with the rank of Major General.
