Technical Sergeant Francis Kee packs away parachutes used by the pilots of the 78th Fighter Group on flights from Duxford air base. Passed for publication 27 October 1943. Printed caption on reverse: 'Thunderbolts on missions. Here are series of pictures of Thunderbolts, P-47s, which escort Flying Fortresses on their frequent missions over Occupied Europe. Photo shows:- T/Sgt. Francis KEE, 609 Cipress Street, San Antonio, Texas, packs a few parachutes away at this Thunderbolt, P-47 base, "somewhere in England". Sgt. Kee is in charge of the parachute section and is the man primarily responsible for the safety of fighter pilots when they are forced to bail-out during combat in actions against the German Luftwaffe.
