Prisoner of War (POW). Shot down 4 January 1944 in B-17 42-30606 'El Diablo'. Target was Kiel, Germany. With supercharger problems and losing an engine, the pilot aborted the mission and was hit by flak and crashed near Romo Island, in the North Sea.
