Military"Loco-Busters return to base in England after strafing Paris, France -- Fighters of the Eighth Air Force, over six hundred of them, continued the attack against German transport, 17 August 1944. One thousand railroad cars and other targets were destroyed or damaged in the area surrounding the battle lines. In the cockpit of his Republic Thunderbolt after his return from Loco-busting, is 2Lt Eugene J. Timony of Lakewood Ohio."

Flew a P-47D named 'Moptops Pride'. Moptop was his nickname for his girlfriend that he later married. Lt Timony survived the war, married, had 2 children, retired from the Air Force after 23 yrs ending his career flying B-52s for SAC. He continued his career as a flight instructor for United Airlines. He held most of the FAA flying certifications available, except helicopter and balloon.
Awards: DFC (OLC), AM (9OLC), WWII Victory, EAME (1 x battle star), Korean and UN medals .
Post war: Survived the war and went on to serve in Korea and Vietnam, retiring at rank of Lt Colonel.
