Flew on AC 348

On 18 September 1944 he flew one of the missions to supply the airborne forces who had landed in Holland. Their plane was hit by ground fire 'Dutch people waving to us on one side and the Germans shooting at us from the other' and had to divert to the Woodbridge Emergency Field. On landing the plane caught fire but all the crew got out safely and were trucked back to N. Pickenham
