June - August 1943. LWG, Disbrow crew. 381st BG, 535th BS, 8th AF. Shot down 17 August 1943 in B-17 #42-3225 'Chug-a-Lug Lu-Lu'. Mission #20 "Black Tuesday" to the ball bearing works at Schweinfurt, Germany. MACR 378. S/Sgt King was fired upon as he descended in his parachute. Evaded the Germans for 9 months then picked up trying to cross the Swiss border. Prisoner of War (POW). Stalag Luft IV.
