MilitaryJoined RAFVR, service pilot training, assigned to 133S, flew on Dieppe raid air cover
On 6 Sept 42 he was shot down in Spitfire BS276 over France on an escort mission with 133 Squadron. Evaded capture and with the help of the underground via the Pyrenees escaped to Spain. Returned to the USA and joined the USAAF to return to the UK.
Later flew with the 406th Fighter Sqn, 371st Fighter Group, USAAF.
