Ellis Andras served as copilot with the 306 Bomb Group, flying missions out of Thurleigh, England. On the last mission [31 December 1943] of Lt. Charles O. Smith, crashed his plane near Stevenage, southeast of Bedford and east of Luton, when he ran out of gas and had lost his radios. Lt. Andras was seriously injured, suffering a fractured skull. All but two of the crew had cuts and scratches. Andras was taken to Diddington hospital. Losses notes burial Jan 4, 1944, but First states 30 Sept.
