Staff Sergeant Edward Louis Phillips, tail-gunner on B-17G 'Miss Rap-So-Dee" ( #42-37876) was killed when he plane was shot down over the Baltic Sea. According to the Certificate accompanying the Missing Air Crew Report, all 10 parachutes deployed, meaning he died in the sea along with other crew-members.
