MilitaryShot down on 4th mission on 13 June 1943 in B-17 #425218 'Skywolf. ' Prisoner of War (POW). Plane was hit over target by flak. 3 direct hits. Control cables were gone and big hole in tail. Bailed out of bomb bay, he was next to last to leave, not far from target. Civilian caught up to him wihtin 30-45 minutes. He was with tail gunner Earl S. Mason Jr. He helped him out of his chute and met six othe crew men later. That afternoon he was treated not too bad, rode in truck into Bremen that evening. He could see fire trucks and broken glass from rear of truck. Put in building and later were given black bread and a little cold meat.
