Estimate 21 missions including 2 on D-Day with 96th BG as lead radar navigator (Mickey Operator). We dropped our bombs on beach in support of Gen. Dempsey's British 2nd Army. Shot down on mission to oil refinery on 28 July 1944 (Leipzig) in AC 42-97555. We went down west of target. Prisoner of War (POW) to 7 May 1945. Flown to Rheims, France. Was there on 8 May 1945, V-E Day.
