McPherson, KS 20 February 2005 Mr. Don M. Mitchell, age 85, of McPherson, KS went to be with his Lord Sunday, February 20th, 2005 peacefully, while in the company of family members. at his residence. Mr. Mitchell was born in rural McPherson, Kansas on February 27, 1919, he was the son of the late Bert B. and Vera A. (Poulson) Mitchell. He graduated from the eighth grade at Groveland Center country school and graduated from McPherson High School in 1936. He was a lifetime member of Church of Christ McPherson, KS, and he served as a deacon for twelve years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a Cpt in WW II. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a Farmer for lifetime. He was the husband of Virginia Irene (Hedlund) Mitchell. They were married on June 18, 1944 at New Gottland, Kansas and Virginia survives of the home. other survivors include his daughter; his two sons; his sister; He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, John Mitchell. Friends are invited to call Wednesday 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family present to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel. Funeral service at Church of Christ, McPherson, KS. at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 24th, with Mr. Glen Elliott officiating. Interment at McPherson Cemetery McPherson, KS.
