MilitaryCrashed on take off due to mechanical problems on an operational mission on 3 Mar 1944 in B-24J #42-99939 'Big Fat Butterfly'. RTD. Plane heavily damaged by flak, exploded and several crew members killed. Note: This is most likely a mission to Gien, FR on 17 Jul 1944 in B-24J #42-52581 that managed to return with battle damage and crashed upon landing at Lavenham. WIA.
