Died

14 October 2000 Damacio E. Nogales, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away into the Lord's Hands on October 14, 2000. His son, Frederick, preceded him in death. Damacio is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carmen. Damacio is also survived by five daughters, and his son. Damacio has four grandsons. Damacio "Dino" was born in High Rolls, New Mexico on December 18, 1924. Damacio grew up in Alamogordo before he was drafted into combat service for his country with the Army Air Corps (Eighth Air Force) during World War II as a B-24 Aerial Gunner. A native New Mexican, far away from home, he served proudly in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central European Campaigns. Damacio was awarded three Air Medals, the American Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with three Bronze Battle Stars, the Good Conduct Medal (barely!) and three Victory Medals for his efforts. Damacio returned home after the war and obtained a BS in Business Administration from the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (New Mexico State). Damacio remained in New Mexico working for Phillip Morris and eventually settled in El Paso, Texas, where he began 25 years of civil service, first at Holloman Air Force Base and then at White Sands Missile Range and NASA during the Apollo Lunar Missions. Damacio retired as the Chief Budget Analyst at WSMR and recently moved to Rio Rancho, realizing his dream to return to his home state of New Mexico.
