Curtis W Hickman
Military ROLL OF HONOURRadio Operator, Chason crew. 381st BG, 533rd BS, 8th AF. Killed in Action (KIA) 30 December 1943 died on operations due to lack of oxygen on B-17. Mission #54. S/Sgt Hickman (23 y/o) was found slumped over his station by the BTG during the return portion of the mission. His mask was found with ice build up and unplugged. Artificial respirations were given for the remainder of the flight. He was pronounced dead of anoxia and transported to the 121st Hospital at Braintree. This was his first mission.
