Military

Youngest of 5 brothers, enlisted in US Army 1934. Graduated from Aviation Cadets as a bombardier in 1943. Assigned to RAF Thurley in the 306BG in October 1943. Flew 23 combat missions. Shot down 11 April 1944 in B-17 #4231385. Prisoner of War (POW) at Stalag Luft 3 Sagan-Silesia Bavaria (Moved to Nuremberg-Langwasser) 49-11. Reverted to enlisted rank of Master Sergeant after WW2; re-commissioned as Captain in 1951. Flew 55 missions as bombardier on B-26 Night Intruders out of Kunsan, Korea during the Korean Conflict. Retired in 1957 as a Major in the USAF; Died of cancer in 1974.
