Flew 17 missions with the 100th BG then was transferred to the 97th BG on Feb 4 1944 with rest of crew and plane 'Daylite Delivery' overall he completed 34 missions. He was nearly drowned in the North Atlantic while on his initial trip to England . Leaving from Presque Isle Maine to Reykjavik Iceland from thence to East Anglia This original plane was called 'Big Moose' and was lost in the N. Atlantic. Losses of the 8th & 9th AFs states flying from Goose Bay to Meeks Field, Iceland, a/c B-17-42-5840 crash landed in the sea near a convoy. 8 were picked up but 2 drowned.
