Killed in Action (KIA), 10 February 1944 plane B-17F #42-30847 'Pegasus' was badly shot up by fighters on and flak, pilot ordered bail out, Haugen found Rayburn on the floor and thought his oxygen had been damaged, when he got another bottle and tried to afix it to Rayburn he found out he was deceased. Body was returned to base as pilot was able to nurse it back.
