After being damaged by flak on a mission to Brunswick, GR on 15 Mar 1944, B-24J 42-99976 'Pocatello Chief' fell out of formation and was attacked by fighters, exploded in mid-air and crashed NE of Wuppertal, GR. Killed in Action (KIA).
