"Flew total of 34 missions. Mission #1 June 29,'44. on plane 'All American Girs' took off 4:30 with 20-25lb. demos for synthetic plant at Bolton; ll miles south of Leipzig. Attacked by ME 109's before target, got in some heavy burst; P-51's shot them down; heavy flak from initial point to target to rally point; flew purple heart corner; 1 flak hole in left landing light; good escort; time 8:30. Also flew in support of ground troops in France . Instead of going in at 10,900 ft. we were at 700 ft. The target was 1500 yards ahead of our troops there were 8 German divisions we were supposed to hit and by the time we landed in England we had over 40 holes in our plane. Never lost a man during any of their missions."
