Charles D. Oliver served as a pilot and trained with the 398th BG, 602BS; 398th BG prepared for combat with B-17's, but interrupted these activities from Jul to Dec 1943 to train replacement crews for other organizations. He transfered to the 306th BG, 423rd BS as a pilot in November 1943, began flying on November 25, 1943 and went on his 1st mission on December 1, 1943 and completed 26 missions on March 26, 1944.
