Carl H Gooch

Military

Carl's plane was shot by German FLAK. The plane flew a few mile before they had to bail out. Carl landed in a field where he was helped by two Dutch boys. Later he was moved to Leiden where he stayed the remainder of the war. His plane, 'Jayhawk' #42-32079, eventually crashed on the outskirts of the Dutch village of Lisse on September 26th. Carl lost two crew members: Donald J. Reilly and Wilbur H. Parker

6 November 1939 Carl enlisted on November 6th 1939 into the Medical Corps. He was based in Hawaii when Pearl Harbor was attacked and witnessed the attack and took care of the wounded. He later enlisted into the USAAF
