On 29 October1942 he entered the service from Camp Grant, Illinois, as a private in the Air Corps. He had a grammar school education, was single, without dependents and his civilian occupation was listed as: "Skilled mechanics and repairmen, n.e.c.".

We have him listed as participating in four 437th flights as a C-47 Radio Operator or Passenger: Mission ELMIRA on 06 June 1944; the movement from Ramsbury to Montalto for Operation DRAGOON in July 1944; the resupply and air evacuation Mission #7 in June of 1944 and Operation VARSITY in March 1945.

We also have him listed in the IX Troop Carrier Command General Orders #71, dated 18 May 1945 as receiving the 3rd Oak Leaf Cluster for his Air Medal.
