Bruno T Daszkiewicz
Military ROLL OF HONOURBruno was born in Illinois, the son of Frank and Charlotte Daszkiewicz, on 15 Jun 1927. Being eager to serve, he lied about his age and enlisted in the Army Air Force on 19 Jul 1943 in Chicago. He was just 16, but a strapping lad. After training, he was assigned to the 596th Bomb Squadron as an armorer/gunner. He was on board a Martin B-26B Marauder named "Bank Nite Betty" (A/C #42-96144) that was shot down while on a bombing mission to destroy the Eller RR bridge over the Moselle River in Germany. According to MACR 11483, their aircraft impacted the ground northeast of St. Vith, Belgium. All crew members perished.
