Brian Sainsbury Gunderson
MilitaryBrian had originally joined the RCAF where he trained as navigator/bombardier, instructing for year at the Air Observer School St. Jean, Quebec. and then served in England before transferring to USAAF in November 1944. He was assigned to 422 Squadron at Chelveston and was involved in the night time leaflet drops. Brian flew his last combat mission - his 51st - February 5th 1945. He stayed on in the service retiring in 1974 with the rank of Brigadier General and in 1987 was President of the Air Force Historical Foundation.
Awards: DFC, AM (3OLC), DSM, LOM (2OLC), American Campaign, EAME (3BS), WWII Victory, National Defense, AF Commendation, UN and Korean medals.
