445th 703rd Squadron, the Dixie DUDROP. This photo was taken shortly after they returned from the Gotha Mission, Feb 24th 1944. The Gotha mission bombed Goaether Wagon Werks, an aircraft factory located in Gotha, Germany, that produced the Messerschmitt 110 fighter. Only 12 out of 25 B-24's returned from this mission, the Dixie DUDROP was the only plane to return from it's squadron.
