Staff Sergeant Bennie J. Morton was born April 1, 1922. He was the son of A.C. and Lena Morton, and his hometown was Byers, Texas.
On November 29, 1943, while aboard a B-17 of the 96th Bomb Group, 337th Bomb Squadron, he received battle wounds, and died on the ground later that day at Snetterton Heath, after his plane safely returned to the field.
He is buried in Hope Cemetery in Henrietta, Texas.
